Three world records were set during qualification and elimination, while Korea remained unbeaten in recurve team matchplay through two stages.

Winners at the circuit's second stage of the season in Antalya, Turkey on 25/26 May, Lee Woo Seok, Ksenia Perova, Mike Schloesser and Yesim Bostan join the champions from Shanghai Kim Woojin, Chang Hye Jin, Kim Jongho and Sara Lopez as qualifiers for the grand final in Turkey in September.

A new rule introduced for 2018 sees victors at each of the four legs be awarded places rather than having to wait until the points are decided at the conclusion of the year.

World Archery Champion Ksenia Perova took recurve women's gold on Antalya beach after a tight tiebreaker saw her awarded the victory by just a couple of millimetres. In a rematch of the Mexico City 2017 World Archery Championship final, the Russian archer beat world number one Chang Hye Jin from Korea in a major final for the second time in the last 12 months.

"My opponent is a really strong archer, an Olympic Champion, and in my opinion it is a dream of every athlete to win against an Olympic Champion," said Perova.

Other highlights included rookie Lee Woo Seok dropped just three points in 12 arrows to beat Korean teammate and world number one Kim Woojin to the recurve men's gold medal; Turkish archer Bostan broke silver run with home-soil victory in Turkey to take first major title after second places at both the last world outdoor and world indoor championships.

"It was a very special moment for me. I've had a really good season, a lot of medals, but not gold medals. Finally I've got the medal I wanted, in my home country. I'm really happy to sing my national anthem here," said Bostan.

The third stage of the 2018 Hyundai Archery World Cup starts on 18-24 June in Salt Lake City, USA.
